There’s so many diets out there! Everyone has an opinion and has written a book on it. Don’t believe me? Check out the “Health” section of a bookstore! (if anyone goes to those anymore…)
Yikes! The sad part is I can name even more (that also have books)! So what’s the deal? What’s the best diet?! I sat down one day and made a whole chart on what’s allowed or not allowed on certain diets-essentially making some look better than others. Then, I started listening to podcasts and youtube videos. Everyone preaches and swears by what they follow. My head was spinning! And in that moment it kinda hit me-there is no ONE diet that is going to benefit EVERYONE in the same way.
The best diet is the one that gives you energy, balances your system-enough calories for body functions, exercise, etc. The one that includes lots of whole food sources and minimal processed products. The one that supports optimal digestion and provides you with the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
Personally, I find I thrive best on a diet with a higher percentage of carbs. I live for my fruits and veggies! I’m not a huge fan of beef and pork as they make me feel full, bloated, and sluggish. I still eat them occasionally, just in smaller quantities so I’m not affected. Others enjoy a higher protein or fat percentage. As long as you’re getting enough nutrients, and the food you eat properly supports your organs and their function (like avoiding gluten if you’re sensitive), then keep doing what you’re doing!
